XPLORE EXPERIENCES · PENEDÈS

Ride to the vines. Stay for the cellar.

A private day on the motorcycle from Barcelona: over the Ordal hills to a wine estate with a fifteenth-century farmhouse in the Penedès, a guided visit and a tasting of its wines, and home by the sea, through Sitges and along the cliff road of the Garraf.

XVCENTURY ESTATE

Forty-five minutes from Barcelona, where the white limestone of the Garraf falls into the vineyards of the Penedès, a wine estate keeps its bottles in a cellar cut into the rock of the hillside.

We ride straight to the estate, over the Ordal hills and into the vineyards, so you sit down at the table at the right time: a Mediterranean breakfast in the morning, or the cellar tasting towards midday. The fifteenth-century farmhouse, the vineyards, the cellar, and the estate’s wines at an unhurried table.

Whoever rides tastes the alcohol-free version; whoever sits behind tastes everything. And when the helmets go back on, we come home the long way: down through the pines of the Garraf to Sitges, and along the cliff road above the sea.

THE COSTES DEL GARRAF · C-31

The road above the sea

Between Castelldefels and Sitges the C-31 is cut into the cliffs of the Garraf: bend after bend with the white rock on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. It is one of the most beautiful roads in Catalonia, and it is how we bring you home.

THE PROGRAMME

The vines, the cellar, the sea

Out through the vineyards, home by the sea. Two hours at the estate first, then the Garraf, Sitges and the cliff road back to Barcelona.

  1. Barcelona

We meet in the city and head west, towards the Ordal hills.

  2. Over the Ordal

The old mountain road over the Ordal pass, with the first vineyards of the Penedès opening up below.

  3. The estate

Welcome at the fifteenth-century farmhouse, a walk through the vineyards and down into the cellar in the rock.

  4. The tasting

The estate’s white, rosé and red, with Catalan cheeses, pan con tomate and olive oil.

  5. The Garraf Natural Park

Down through Olivella on a quiet mountain road, pines and white rock all the way to the sea.

  6. Sitges

A slow pass along the seafront and a photograph by the church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla. A fine place for lunch by the sea, if you want to stay.

  7. The Costes del Garraf

The C-31 cliff road home: a ribbon of curves cut into the limestone above the Mediterranean.

  8. Barcelona

Back in the city, with the sea still in your eyes.

The times are only a suggestion: the day is private, and you set the pace.

THE ESTATE

Five centuries in the Garraf hills

The estate lies on the northern slopes of the Garraf massif, where the limestone hills give way to the vineyards of the Penedès. Its farmhouse dates from the fifteenth century, and its cellar was dug into the rock of the hillside, so the wines rest in cool, quiet stone.

The vines are farmed sustainably, and the visit is led by the people who make the wine: how the soil, the sea breeze and the slope end up in the glass, told by the cellar door and at the table.

A visit for people who love wine, and for people who simply love a beautiful place and an unhurried table.

GOOD TO KNOW

Before you raise a glass

A glass of rosé on a wooden table outdoors, in the sun
A rosé in the sun
Can the rider drink at the tasting?

No. We keep alcohol at zero for whoever rides: the rider tastes the alcohol-free version, with the same table and the same visit, and the passenger tastes everything. If you both want the wines, come as Co-Riders and let our pilots do the riding.

I don’t drink at all. Is it still for me?

Absolutely. The whole visit can be done alcohol-free, and the farmhouse, the vineyards, the cellar and the food are worth the ride on their own.

Do I need to know about wine?

Not at all. The visit starts from the vineyard and the cellar, and the tasting is explained glass by glass. It is a relaxed table, not an exam.

Which tasting should I choose?

The Cellar Tasting is the classic: a white, a rosé and a red with cheese, bread and olive oil, around midday. Breakfast among the Vines starts earlier and is a proper meal, with four wines. Tell us what you prefer when you book.

Which days can we go, and how far ahead should we book?

Any day of the week, on request. The estate keeps the visit for private groups, so the earlier you write, the easier it is to find the time that suits you best.

What if it rains?

We look at the forecast together a couple of days before. If the weather is not right for riding, we move the day with you and with the estate to another date.

What should I wear?

Riding gear on the bike, and comfortable shoes for the walk through the vineyard: it is a working farm. Passengers get their helmet and riding gear from us.

Can I give the Ride & Wine day as a gift?

Yes. Tell us on WhatsApp who it is for and we will make a voucher with their name, valid for 12 months. If they would rather do something else with us in Barcelona, they can swap: if it costs more, they pay the difference; if it costs less, the difference is not refunded.

EVERY DAY, ON REQUEST

Pick a date. We’ll chill the rosé.

Tell us when you would like to ride, how you want to come and which tasting you prefer, and we will keep a table at the estate for you.
